@Member HI FRIENDS AND FOES Our lovely embassy friends at The East Pacific have invited us to join them for their monthly Hunger Games which will take place on Sunday 29th October honk_knife

This is played through a site that randomly generates the event outcome and looking at their previous games, it's a lot of fun! Because of the way it runs, you sign up in advance and you don't need to be online during the event so you can still take part without worrying about time zones. (It's kinda like a more random BOAT for those who were around for that!) hyper

If you haven't been around for one of these before, every year, Forest puts on a contest where people within their region, and people from their embassy regions, can all submit photographs under certain categories. While some of these categories are straightforward, they're intended to be vague enough so that people entering the contest can be kind of creative. Last year, Refuge isle/Luca had the idea for a snowflake competition that unfortunately didn’t come to fruition, which is why I chose to revive it for this year’s anniversary! But instead of a competition, this event will be a cooperation between our members, because working together is one of the things our members do best! Submissions are open to all nations within Refugia, opening January 30, and closing February 16.

Participating nations will be able to submit both:

a, a 1/6 portion of a snowflake(tip to tip, like a pizza slice) that will be used together with other nations portions in one unified Refugia snowflake. (Or 2 snowflakes if there’s more than 6 submissions)

b, an unlimited number of whole snowflakes. (if someone desire I can edit one of their whole snowflakes into a 1/6 one)

Hi friendos, I hope everyone is okay. I am extremely sorry to let you all know that on 30 January 2026, my partner Maddie, also known here as "Tiralta" and on NationStates as Chacapoya, died. It was sudden and unexpected, and I will miss her terribly for the rest of my life. Maddie was one of the oldest members of Refugia and held the longest continuous residency as well as several council positions over the years. She also created the Starlight Brigade, her baby, and she was very proud of the fact that it was consistently the best single-region faction in the game. I know you’ll all make her proud for N-Days to come. She absolutely loved this region. She had given me the password to Chacapoya several times over the past few years, so although Chacapoya will not be active anymore, I will be logging in occasionally to ensure the nation doesn’t CTE and can continue to hold that residency stat she guarded so closely. At some point when I have adjusted somewhat to functioning more, a memorial event on NS will be planned. I’ll keep you all updated as to what that is when I’ve decided more. @everyone @Member Greetings friends. Admin has been discussing the possibility of remerging Refugia and CalRef servers, and we want the communities to weigh in on this decision before we take action. It is very important that you fill out this form, as we want to make sure our decision is informed by community members. As you all are likely aware, the owner of Refugia’s server recently passed away, and discord is unwilling to transfer server ownership to another admin. This makes it difficult for the server to continue operation as-is. Our current options for Refugia are to merge it with CalRef, or to create a new server. In the case that the servers merge, there would be dedicated channels for NS chatter, separate from the remainder of the server. Refugia was once merged with Calamity Refuge, but since split off into its own server. Administration has been discussing re-merging the two for a while now, but following the passing of Refugia's server owner, the need to make a decision is more imminent.
