Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been around much; after being unwell in June I'd been pretty dang preoccupied in Forest this July. (the number of embassy requests has been staggaring.) I've got a bunch of the ongoing stuff listed on (mainly this past month alone) the OP of our GP thread: https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=453437 (I go into more detail about things in my posts on page 3 ;p) Of note, Realize is back with Forest Trivia (with a special olympics edition; admittedly not sure when the deadline is), the Forest Summer Symphony music festival (submissions end on August 9th), and an upcoming treasure hunt that will probably take place in a couple of weeks. Bilsa will also be hosting a (now closed) football tournament folks are able to watch from home if they're interested

I’m Still Standing — March 2025 Update

Hello folks, I’m back…well actually I never left. Elections just took place a few weeks ago and while we did see a change in the guard for our culture and internal affairs people and also a new director in charge of the NWC Stock Exchange, yours truly is still here, as he should be. We also had some resolutions to vote on, which passed. Also also, we kind of had N-Day, and our faction JEFF got second place, I mean no big deal really. But I’ve also been ~~collecting infinity stones~~ gathering more embassies, those being Greater Middle East and Declansburg. Other than that, our new and improved RP setting is almost ready — we’re heading back to the 1800s and sipping our toes into steampunk, which means MORE POLLUTION! That should about do it for this update, by next month I’m going to be stuck in Mira and probably crying about not making it far again in Laraleague — which you people in the NWC server should check out by the way! Hey everyone :3 I am proud to announce that Forest will be having its first event of the new term! In this second edition of the Forest Poetry Contest we are delighted to co-host with The Bar on the corner of every region to bring forth a wider variety of poetry and judges to bring all of our embassy regions closer together

Submissions are open today and close in 3 weeks, the results will be announced on the 3rd of May and the categories are as follows: Haiku, Freeverse, "The Living World", and "The Bar" All submissions (up to a maximum of 5 across the 4 topics) should be submitted via telegram to the nation "Forest Poetry Judge", submissions may be done via text within the telegram or by being sent in a factbook sent within the telegram *Note: Only 2 haiku's may be submitted All poems shall be judged based on three criteria by a panel of 5 judges, comprised of Forestians, members of The Bar and even those in both! Each of the three criteria shall be marked out of 10, with each poem receiving an overall total out of 30. The criteria are as follows: Effectiveness, Thought, and Resonance The totally *definitely "highly qualified" judges for this contest are: Garbelia, Prusmia (me) :3, Kissinger-Monroe, Zany Zanes, and Zombie Penguins; please submit all bribes to the contest judges in a plainly sealed box at the judge retreat so that you may be promptly indicted for cheating. Oh Yay It’s Spring Allergy Season — April 2025 Update

Hello, it’s me again. I was on vacation for a bit, surviving on a distant planet, you know how that goes, but I’m back and so is another update. It’s been a rather quiet month for NWC but I like quiet. We had a special election this past month for Justice Primum since the former was removed via Motion of No Confidence due to activity. Also, I once again remind people that Laraleague is starting up this month (on the 11th) and since we still need at least three more teams, I hope anyone in the server would be willing to join. Imagine a football team of your favorite characters from any sort of media. Come on, surely that sounds fun, doesn’t it? We hope to see you if you’re interested. What A Year — July/August Edition

One year ago on this day, July 27, a small group of people held one of many meetings and decided to announce their independence of- wait a minute… looks at the day and month Hmm…well I suppose it’s appropriate that it would be July of all months. Ahem, as I was saying, a group of people consisting of members of the former New West Indies and Alcris announced their breakaway from Alcris and thus, the birth of New West Conifer was born, the name honoring the former New West Indies and Conifer. Our reason was simple: we felt as if our culture was being swept under the rug and not being appreciated. Of course, there were other issues but we won’t go into that… New West Conifer may be a region on paper but overall we’re just a chill community that happens to have chill neighbors as well. Of course, we take our roles to keep those chill vibes seriously and, honestly, it just feels good to be back. As the Commissioner of Foreign Affairs, I want to thank the embassies that stood by us a year ago. Your support is important snd appreciated. And to that, I hope our partnerships will continue to grow into the next year as well. Now, other than our major anniversary, I want to also mention that our biggest sport of the region, Laraleague, is going to be starting up again in August so please, if you guys like soccer (or football as our European friends would call it) please feel free to sign up if you’re in the region. Goodbyes Are Always Hard (Though This Isn’t The Goodbye You Think It Is)

This is a bit of a weird post to make, usually cause I’m not the one who makes them. After the past few weeks and months, it was becoming clearer to me that the NWC (and even other regions I happen to be part of) and its members really weren’t active on NS. This region and server (as well as the previous ones) were essentially built on the backbone of NS because it was our main focus of activity. Now, it’s clear that essentially this is mostly a hangout place for us and most of our NS accounts are gathering dust. Wit that said, after discussions and holding a vote, we have decided that we’re going to leave NS behind and this server will essentially just be a hangout place for everyone in and out of the region. Naturally, people here obviously can still use NS and if they want to be extra active there’s plenty of embassies that I’m sure will welcome them. Of course, we may lose embassies due to inactivity though I hope our neighbors won’t necessarily resort to that. Hello All! The 10 year anniversary of the founding of The Leftist Assembly is coming up and to celebrate we have some events lined up! We’d love to see as many faces come along as possible, here’s the rundown for week: Tuesday 6th Jan - Culture Competition submissions open, here you can submit ideas and designs to become the regional standard in the following categories; Regional Flag, Coat of Arms, Anthem, Fish, Reptile; Flower, Tree, Dish, Animal; & poem. Submissions will close on Monday 12th Jan. Sunday 11th Jan - Game Night! And it’s everybody’s favourite, Rocket Bot Royale, come along and get involved with the rocket throwing. Tuesday 13th Jan - Day off before another game night, RBR but sophisticated, a game night of Chess! Wednesday 14th Jan - The big day is here, TLA turns 10! The regional newsletter, The Red Star will release and we will see some interviews from some current and former Assemblians! Thursday 15th Jan - Back to games! It’s everyone’s second favourite political game, Secret Hitler! Friday 16th Jan - Ooh how exciting a homemade quiz all about us! TLA will be hosting a quiz all about the events throughout our past, a lot’s happened! Saturday 17th Jan - And finally, to round off celebrations a yap session with a load of old faces that escaped, and with a few that refuse to leave will happen on the 17th with discussions about all things TLA, with a few other topics possibly sprinkled in too, this will coincide with the release of the results from the Culture Competition that took place earlier in the week!
